Willow Harlequin Tree Workshop

We will cut live willow from our willow bed to plant and weave it into a harlequin (diamond) pattern. In the spring the bare sticks will sprout a joyful canopy of leaves. Over the years the willow sticks will fuse together to form a solid (hollow) trunk. You are essentially making a tree from a pile of sticks!

Because we are using home grown willow the course needs to be held during the harvesting period (next chance will be next year when it has all grown back again!).

FURTHER INFORMATION

The WILLOW HARLEQUIN TREE workshop will take place in the garden if the weather is good, and otherwise in the workshop. Please bring a waterproof coat that won’t get snagged by the willow, and wrap up warm. Please wear sturdy shoes or boots, and at this time of year you may like to wear a woolly hat too!

Tea, coffee and cold drinks will be supplied with a selection of biscuits.

The course will start at 9.30am but if you would like a drink first you are welcome to arrive from 9am.

Experience level: beginner.

Please note for the willow work you will need to be reasonably dexterous. Work will include the use of secateurs (provided).

Participants must be over 18.

Maximum 6 places on each workshop, bookings allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Payment required upon booking receipt to secure your place.

Non refundable but if your plans change you can find someone else to replace you or I will keep a waiting list and try to fill the place for you – if the place is filled (and paid for) I will refund your money.

By booking a place you accept that this workshop’s conditions are potentially hazardous and you will be using potentially dangerous tools alongside unrefined natural materials. While precautions will be taken and warnings given where possible, accidents may occur and there is a risk of injury.
