Our second workshop started in the craft workshop with a pile of wet willow sticks and hop vines. We first learned how to make a plain willow wreath that filled out to look like a twisted rope pattern. The second wreath began in the same way but was then deliberately randomised so that the surface was broken up into lovely twisted shapes and a layer of hop vines over the top enhanced the effect.
With a quick cuppa and mince pie to warm up we moved into the house to make a paper garland wrapped wreath as before (see Christmas Decorations Day).
For our final wreath of the day we used metal frames and hessian ribbon to create a rustic result.
All of these wreaths form a solid decorative structure for foliage and seasonal decorations to be added according to the occasion, making them useful all year round.
Congratulations to all of the participants, you made some beautiful wreaths and I hope you enjoy them this Christmas!
